Description
Juicy and tender flank or sirloin steak baked to perfection in a rich garlic balsamic glaze, creating an easy and flavorful oven-finished main course ideal for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Steak
- 2 lb flank or sirloin steak
Marinade
- ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to warm up while you prepare the steak and marinade.
- Make the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, dried rosemary, salt, and black pepper until all ingredients are well combined.
- Marinate the Steak: Place the flank or sirloin steak in a baking dish and pour the prepared marinade evenly over the steak, ensuring it’s well coated.
- Bake the Steak: Put the baking dish uncovered into the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes. Baste the steak once during this time with the pan juices to keep it moist and flavorful.
- Rest the Steak: Remove the steak from the oven and allow it to rest for 5–10 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute for a tender bite.
- Slice and Serve: Slice the steak against the grain to maximize tenderness and serve immediately. Optionally, broil for 2–3 minutes to achieve a caramelized finish on top.
Notes
- For an extra caramelized crust, broil the steak for 2–3 minutes after baking.
- Always slice the steak against the grain to ensure maximum tenderness.
- Letting the steak rest before slicing helps keep it juicy.
