Description

This easy Beef & Potato Bake is a comforting, family-friendly casserole featuring layers of seasoned ground beef and tender sliced potatoes, all topped with melted cheese and baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preference)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Layer Ingredients: In a baking dish, arrange a layer of sliced potatoes, followed by a layer of the seasoned ground beef. Repeat layers if desired to use all ingredients.
  3. Add Cheese Topping: Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top layer of beef and potatoes to create a gooey, flavorful crust.
  4. Bake the Casserole: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the casserole uncovered for about 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and lightly browned.
  5. Optional Covering: If the cheese begins to brown too quickly during baking, cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil halfway through to prevent burning.

Notes

  • Cover the casserole halfway through baking if the cheese browns too quickly.
  • You can use any type of shredded cheese like cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend for different flavors.
  • For even cooking, slice potatoes uniformly thin.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
