Description
A moist, flavorful meatloaf featuring a perfectly glazed top and tender interior, crafted with classic pantry staples for a comforting main course.
Ingredients
Meatloaf
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 eggs
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Glaze
- ½ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the meatloaf evenly.
- Prepare meatloaf mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, finely diced onion, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to avoid a dense, tough loaf.
- Shape the loaf: Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it into a baking dish, ensuring even thickness for uniform cooking.
- Make the glaze: In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until smooth. Spread this glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf for a flavorful crust.
- Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 60 to 70 minutes, until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Rest before serving: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes outside the oven; this helps retain juices and makes slicing easier.
Notes
- Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to keep the meatloaf tender and moist.
- Leftover meatloaf slices make excellent sandwiches for next-day meals.
