Description

This Big Mac Casserole captures the iconic flavors of a classic Big Mac in a comforting, cheesy layered dish. Featuring seasoned ground beef, diced onions, tangy pickles, and a special sauce blend of ketchup, mayo, and mustard, all topped with melted cheddar cheese and fresh chopped lettuce. Perfect for a quick family dinner that satisfies burger cravings without the bun.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup pickles, chopped
  • 1 cup lettuce, chopped (for serving)

Special Sauce

  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef and onion: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  2. Mix in the sauce: Stir in ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper into the cooked beef and onion mixture until well combined.
  3. Assemble the casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly into a casserole dish. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  4. Bake the casserole: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the casserole dish in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and serve: Remove from oven, top with chopped pickles and shredded lettuce to mimic the Big Mac toppings. Optionally, serve with sesame bun crumbles for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For a more authentic Big Mac flavor, add a few tablespoons of store-bought or homemade special sauce instead of the simple mix of ketchup, mayo, and mustard.
  • To keep it gluten-free, omit any sesame bun crumbles as topping or use gluten-free bread crumbs.
  • This casserole is a great make-ahead dish and can be refrigerated for up to 2 days before baking.
