Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup pickles, chopped
- 1 cup lettuce, chopped (for serving)
Special Sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp mustard
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the ground beef and onion: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Mix in the sauce: Stir in ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper into the cooked beef and onion mixture until well combined.
- Assemble the casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly into a casserole dish. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake the casserole: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the casserole dish in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Remove from oven, top with chopped pickles and shredded lettuce to mimic the Big Mac toppings. Optionally, serve with sesame bun crumbles for added texture and flavor.
Notes
- For a more authentic Big Mac flavor, add a few tablespoons of store-bought or homemade special sauce instead of the simple mix of ketchup, mayo, and mustard.
- To keep it gluten-free, omit any sesame bun crumbles as topping or use gluten-free bread crumbs.
- This casserole is a great make-ahead dish and can be refrigerated for up to 2 days before baking.
