Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
Toppings
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella slices
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for baking the chicken evenly.
- Season the chicken: Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil, then season generously with garlic powder, salt, and pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
- Bake the chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a baking dish and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F and the chicken is cooked through.
- Add toppings and continue baking: Remove the chicken briefly, top each breast with sliced mozzarella and tomato slices, then return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese and soften the tomatoes slightly.
- Finish and garnish: Drizzle each chicken breast with balsamic glaze and garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving to add fresh, tangy, and aromatic notes.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, grill the chicken breasts instead of baking.
- You can substitute balsamic glaze with balsamic reduction or dressing based on availability.
- Use fresh mozzarella for the best texture and taste.
- Adjust seasoning according to your preference.
