Description

Chocolate Chip Love Bread is a soft, moist quick bread loaded with sweet chocolate chips and baked to perfection. This cozy loaf is ideal for Valentine’s Day, breakfast, dessert, or as a thoughtful gift. Simple to prepare and always delightful, it combines the richness of chocolate chips with a tender crumb, making it a perfect treat to share or enjoy anytime.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup plain or vanilla yogurt (or sour cream)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

Optional Topping

  • Extra chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the bread after baking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined to ensure proper leavening and flavor distribution.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix the milk, yogurt (or sour cream), vegetable oil or melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well blended to create a moist batter.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixes: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently combine until just mixed. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a tender crumb texture in the bread.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter, saving some for sprinkling on top if desired.
  6. Fill the pan and add topping: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top for added chocolatey goodness and visual appeal, if desired.
  7. Bake the bread: Bake in the preheated oven for 50–55 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  8. Cool the loaf: Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and soft.
  • Mini chocolate chips are recommended as they distribute more evenly throughout the bread.
  • Store the bread at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate it for up to 5 days to maintain freshness.
  • The bread freezes well for up to 2 months; wrap tightly before freezing and thaw before serving.
