Description

Fluffy, moist pumpkin cinnamon rolls spiced with warm cinnamon and topped with a sweet maple glaze — the perfect cozy fall treat to enjoy for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Filling

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup butter, softened

Maple Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, active dry yeast, granulated sugar, and pumpkin puree. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, cinnamon, egg, and melted butter. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough for about 8 minutes on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare Filling and Roll Dough: Roll the risen dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Mix brown sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle the mixture over the butter layer.
  5. Cut Rolls: Carefully roll up the dough tightly from one long side into a log. Slice the roll into 12 equal pieces and arrange them cut side up in a greased baking pan.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Glaze and Serve: While the rolls are still warm, prepare the maple glaze by whisking powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth. Drizzle the glaze generously over the rolls. Serve warm for best flavor.

Notes

  • For added texture and flavor, sprinkle chopped pecans on top of the filling before rolling the dough.
  • These pumpkin cinnamon rolls make a delightful treat for brunch, holiday gatherings, or any cozy fall morning.
