Description

A creamy, cheesy dip inspired by classic crab rangoon, packed with crab meat, cream cheese, and savory seasonings. Perfect for parties and appetizers, this warm and bubbly dip offers a delicious fusion of American and Chinese flavors that pairs wonderfully with crackers or wonton chips.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Seafood

  • 1 cup crab meat (real or imitation)

Cheese & Vegetables

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 180°C (350°F) to warm up while you prepare the dip, ensuring even baking.
  2. Mix cream cheese and sour cream. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  3. Add crab meat and other ingredients. Gently fold in the crab meat, shredded mozzarella cheese, chopped green onions, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Mix well to evenly distribute all flavors.
  4. Season to taste. Add salt and freshly ground black pepper according to your preference; stir again to incorporate the seasoning.
  5. Prepare for baking. Transfer the mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly to promote consistent heating.
  6. Bake the dip. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and slightly golden on top.
  7. Serve warm. Remove from oven and serve immediately with crackers or wonton chips for dipping, enhancing the rich, creamy texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use fresh crab meat instead of imitation.
  • If you enjoy a bit of heat, add a dash of hot sauce to the mixture before baking.
  • The dip is best served immediately while warm for optimal texture and taste.
