Description
A simple, soft flatbread made with basic pantry ingredients. This quick, no-yeast bread cooks on the stovetop and is perfect for wraps, dipping, pizzas, or serving alongside soups and curries.
Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
- 3/4 cup plain yogurt (or milk)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add wet ingredients and form dough: Add the yogurt and olive oil to the dry mix and stir until a soft dough forms, ensuring everything is evenly incorporated.
- Knead dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for 1–2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide and shape dough balls: Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each into a ball to prepare for rolling.
- Roll out flatbreads: Roll each dough ball into a thin circle approximately 6–7 inches in diameter for even cooking.
- Heat skillet: Preheat a dry skillet over medium-high heat to ensure it’s hot before cooking the flatbreads.
- Cook flatbreads: Place one flatbread at a time onto the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes on each side until bubbles form and golden spots appear, ensuring they are cooked through without burning.
- Keep warm: Remove flatbreads from the skillet and keep them warm while cooking the remaining flatbreads to serve all fresh and hot.
