Description
A creamy and mildly spiced Indian-inspired chicken tikka masala made effortlessly in the slow cooker, perfect for a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
Chicken and Vegetables
- 2 lbs chicken breast, cubed
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Spices and Sauces
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (about 14 oz)
- 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add the cubed chicken, diced onion, minced garlic, garam masala, paprika, ground cumin, crushed tomatoes, and salt to your slow cooker. Stir well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Cook Slowly: Set the slow cooker to low heat and cook for 6–7 hours, or alternatively on high heat for 3–4 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
- Add Cream: About 30 minutes before the cooking time ends, stir in the heavy cream or coconut milk to enrich the sauce and create that classic creamy texture associated with tikka masala.
- Serve: Once cooked, serve hot with steamed rice or warm naan bread for a delicious and satisfying meal.
Notes
- Using coconut milk instead of heavy cream makes this dish dairy-free.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro for added flavor and color, if desired.
