Ingredients
Steak and Salad
- 1½ lb flank steak
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced or pearls
- Fresh basil leaves
Balsamic Dressing
- ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat to ensure it is hot enough for perfect searing of the flank steak.
- Prepare the Steak: Rub the flank steak evenly with olive oil, seasoning generously with salt and pepper on both sides to enhance flavor.
- Grill the Steak: Place the steak on the preheated grill and cook for 4–6 minutes per side to achieve a medium-rare doneness, adjusting time if you prefer more or less done.
- Rest the Steak: Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes; this allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat tender and juicy.
- Slice the Steak: Slice the rested steak thinly against the grain to maximize tenderness and make it easier to enjoy.
- Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt and pepper until well combined.
- Assemble the Dish: Arrange the sliced steak on a serving platter, then top evenly with halved cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves.
- Dress and Serve: Drizzle the balsamic dressing over the assembled salad and serve immediately, either warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
