Description

A comforting and flavorful Ground Beef & Broccoli Casserole that combines seasoned ground beef, tender broccoli, creamy mushroom soup, and melted cheddar cheese into a hearty baked dish perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef

Vegetables

  • 3 cups chopped broccoli (fresh or frozen)

Dairy

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (divided)

Pantry

  • 1 can cream of mushroom or chicken soup (about 10.5 oz)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 °F (190 °C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook and Season Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef thoroughly. Drain excess fat if necessary, then season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  3. Steam Broccoli: Steam the chopped broccoli until just tender but still vibrant and slightly crisp, about 4–5 minutes. This prevents overcooking during baking.
  4. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the browned ground beef, steamed broccoli, cream of mushroom (or chicken) soup, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Stir well to evenly incorporate all ingredients.
  5. Assemble Casserole: Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish (approximately 9×13 inches). Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly around the edges.
  7. Serve: Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your hearty and creamy Ground Beef & Broccoli Casserole!
