This Hibiscus Lemonade is a vibrant and refreshing beverage that perfectly balances tartness and floral notes. Ingredients
Hibiscus Tea
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
- 4 cups water (for steeping)
Lemonade Mixture
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–5 lemons)
- ½–¾ cup sugar or honey (to taste)
- 2 cups cold water (to dilute)
For Serving
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices or mint, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan to prepare the base for the hibiscus tea.
- Steep Hibiscus: Remove the saucepan from heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Cover and steep for 15–20 minutes until the liquid is deep red and fragrant.
- Strain Tea: Strain out the hibiscus flowers using a fine mesh strainer, then allow the hibiscus tea to cool slightly at room temperature.
- Sweeten Tea: Stir in ½ to ¾ cup of sugar or honey while the tea is still warm until fully dissolved, adjusting sweetness to your preference.
- Add Lemon and Water: Mix in 1 cup of fresh lemon juice and 2 cups of cold water to dilute and balance the flavors.
- Chill: Refrigerate the hibiscus lemonade for at least 1 hour to ensure it is well chilled and refreshing.
- Serve: Pour the lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices or mint leaves for an attractive presentation and enhanced flavor, if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness according to your taste, as hibiscus naturally has a tart flavor.
- This lemonade can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a fizzy variation, replace the cold still water with sparkling water just before serving.
