Description

Tender, juicy chicken breasts baked to perfection and coated in a sweet and tangy honey Dijon sauce. This easy-to-make dish combines the sharpness of Dijon mustard with the natural sweetness of honey, enhanced by garlic and thyme. Perfectly suited for a healthy weeknight dinner, it pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or rice for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Coat the chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Generously brush or spoon the honey Dijon sauce over each chicken breast, making sure they are well coated on all sides.
  4. Bake the chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), indicating it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
  5. Rest before serving: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, making the chicken tender and juicy.
  6. Optional caramelization: For a caramelized finish, broil the chicken for the last 2–3 minutes of baking time, watching carefully to avoid burning.

Notes

  • Broil for the last 2–3 minutes for a caramelized, slightly crispy topping.
  • Use whole grain mustard instead of Dijon for added texture and a milder flavor.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
