This easy-to-make dish combines the sharpness of Dijon mustard with the natural sweetness of honey, enhanced by garlic and thyme. Perfectly suited for a healthy weeknight dinner, it pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables or rice for a complete meal.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Sauce
- 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Coat the chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish. Generously brush or spoon the honey Dijon sauce over each chicken breast, making sure they are well coated on all sides.
- Bake the chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), indicating it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
- Rest before serving: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, making the chicken tender and juicy.
- Optional caramelization: For a caramelized finish, broil the chicken for the last 2–3 minutes of baking time, watching carefully to avoid burning.
Notes
- Broil for the last 2–3 minutes for a caramelized, slightly crispy topping.
- Use whole grain mustard instead of Dijon for added texture and a milder flavor.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
