Description

This simple yet delicious impossible apple pie bakes up into a soft, custard-like dessert with tender apples nestled in a golden, cake-like batter. A perfect balance of sweetness and spice!

Ingredients

6 apples

¾ cup granulated sugar

4 eggs

¼ cup butter, melted

1 cup milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 or 9×9-inch square baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Prepare the Apples: Slice the apples thinly and discard the cores. Turn the baking dish on its side and support it with an oven mitt or kitchen towel to keep it upright. Stack the apple slices in the dish until full, then lay the dish flat once more.

Make the Batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon, then whisk to combine.

Assemble and Bake: Pour the batter over the sliced apples in the baking dish. Bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown and set.

Rest and Invert: Let the cake rest for 5 minutes, then carefully invert the cake onto a cutting board. Invert again onto a serving plate so the apple slices are facing up.

Serve: Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

This pie has a unique, custard-like texture and is easier to make than a traditional apple pie. It’s a fun and delicious alternative!
