Description

Soft, fluffy sweet rolls filled with cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet vanilla icing — perfect for a delightful breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

For Dough:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For Filling:

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

For Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, instant yeast, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add the flour and knead the mixture until you achieve a smooth and elastic dough.
  2. First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  3. Shape the Rolls: Roll the risen dough out into a large rectangle. Brush it evenly with melted butter, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the surface.
  4. Form the Rolls: Carefully roll the dough tightly from one end to the other and slice it into 12 equal rolls. Arrange the rolls in a baking pan, leaving slight space between each.
  5. Second Rise: Let the shaped rolls rise again for 30 minutes to puff up before baking.
  6. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Prepare the Icing: While the rolls bake and cool slightly, whisk together powdered sugar, milk (start with 1 tablespoon and add more to achieve desired consistency), and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Finish: Drizzle the icing over the cooled rolls generously, then serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra flavor and texture, add raisins or chopped nuts to the cinnamon sugar filling before rolling.
  • Store leftover rolls tightly covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
