Description

This Sheet Pan Caprese Pizza is a fresh and easy homemade pizza that combines the classic flavors of a Caprese salad. Featuring a crispy sheet pan crust topped with melted mozzarella, ripe Roma tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of sweet balsamic glaze, this pizza offers a delightful combination of textures and tastes perfect for a quick dinner or casual meal.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough and Crust

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 12 Roma tomatoes, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 425 °F (220 °C). Lightly oil a sheet pan to prevent sticking and help create a crispy crust.
  2. Shape the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough and stretch it to fit the dimensions of the oiled sheet pan evenly.
  3. Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the stretched dough surface with olive oil. This adds flavor and aids in browning the crust.
  4. Add Cheese and Tomatoes: Evenly spread the shredded mozzarella over the dough, then arrange the sliced Roma tomatoes on top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Add Fresh Basil and Balsamic Glaze: Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven. Top it with fresh basil leaves and drizzle 2 tablespoons of balsamic glaze over the surface for a tangy, sweet finish.
  7. Serve: Slice and serve the pizza warm for the best flavor and texture experience.

Notes

  • Add prosciutto slices or a swirl of pesto sauce for delicious variations.
  • Using store-bought pizza dough can save time and make meal preparation faster.
