Description

A bold, smoky twist on classic lasagna featuring tender smoked brisket layered with rich marinara sauce, creamy ricotta, and melted mozzarella, delivering the ultimate BBQ comfort dish perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 3 cups smoked brisket, shredded or chopped

Pasta

  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked

Sauces and Cheese

  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese

Others

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking your lasagna layers to perfection.
  2. Prepare ricotta mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well incorporated.
  3. Assemble first layer: Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of your baking dish to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  4. Add noodles and ricotta: Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce, then evenly spread a portion of the ricotta mixture on top.
  5. Add brisket and mozzarella: Layer a generous amount of smoked brisket over the ricotta, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat layering: Repeat the layering process—sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, brisket, and mozzarella—until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Bake covered: Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the cheese to melt.
  8. Bake uncovered: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to brown and crisp the top layer of cheese.
  9. Rest and serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes after removing from the oven to set for easier slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use leftover smoked brisket to make this recipe cost-effective and flavorful.
  • Add BBQ sauce along with marinara for an extra smoky, tangy flavor twist.
  • Ensure noodles are not overcooked to avoid mushy layers.
  • Let the lasagna rest after baking for firmer slices.
