Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy to ensure the yeast is active.
- Make Dough: Add the egg, melted butter, and salt into the yeast mixture. Gradually incorporate the flour while mixing and knead until a soft, elastic dough forms.
- First Rise: Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Prepare Dough for Filling: On a floured surface, roll the dough into a large rectangle.
- Add Filling: Spread the strawberry jam evenly over the rolled dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top.
- Shape Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log shape and cut into 12 even slices.
- Second Rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes until they turn golden brown.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls bake, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a smooth glaze.
- Glaze Rolls: Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls for a sweet finishing touch.
Notes
- Fresh strawberries can be added to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
- Cream cheese frosting is a delicious alternative to the glaze for a richer finish.
