Description

This Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet features tender, juicy chicken seared to perfection and bathed in a luscious garlic butter sauce with a touch of smoky spice. It’s rich, savory, and ready in under 30 minutes — perfect for busy weeknights or weekend comfort dinners.

Ingredients

Chicken:

  • 1 ½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

Seasoning:

  • 1 ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Skillet:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter version)
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken: Pat chicken dry and season both sides with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Sear: Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
  3. Make the butter sauce: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add remaining butter and minced garlic; sauté about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze: Pour in chicken broth, scraping up browned bits. Stir in cream, smoked paprika, and lemon juice. Simmer 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Combine: Return chicken to skillet, spooning sauce over the top. Simmer another 2 minutes to blend flavors.
  6. Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon. Delicious with mashed potatoes, rice, or warm rolls.

Notes

  • Substitute boneless thighs for extra tenderness.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne for a subtle kick.
  • For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt or milk instead of heavy cream.
  • Leftovers reheat beautifully — sauce thickens slightly as it cools.
