Description

This easy and flavorful taco meat recipe is perfect for taco nights and beyond! Made with ground beef (or turkey) and savory spices, it’s a versatile filling for tacos, burritos, nachos, and more. Customize the spice level and enjoy quick and delicious meals with this family-friendly recipe.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a leaner option)

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade taco seasoning)

1/2 cup tomato sauce

1/2 cup water

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef (or turkey) and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

  2. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.

  4. Stir in the taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and water. Mix well to combine.

  5. Bring to a simmer, reduce the heat, and cook for 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed

Notes

  1. To make it spicier, add jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
  2. For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef.
  3. For a vegetarian version, use crumbled tempeh, lentils, or a plant-based meat alternative.
  4. Homemade taco seasoning: Combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and salt.
