Description

Indulge in the ultimate grown-up hot chocolate with this Winter Baileys Belgian Hot Chocolate recipe. Made with rich Belgian chocolate, heavy cream, and a splash of Baileys Irish Cream, this velvety hot chocolate is the perfect winter treat. Perfect for the holidays or cozy nights, this recipe is the luxurious twist on your favorite comfort drink!

Ingredients

1 ½ cups (354 ml) whole milk

½ cup (118 ml) heavy cream or double cream

2 ¼ cups/12 ounces (340 grams) dark Belgian chocolate (70%)

1 cup (236 ml) Baileys Original Irish Cream

Sugar to taste (optional)

Instructions

Heat the Milk and Cream:
In a medium saucepan, combine milk and heavy cream over medium-low heat. Warm the mixture until it’s hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent it from sticking.

Add the Chocolate:
Once the milk and cream are hot, add the dark Belgian chocolate (broken into pieces). Stir with a whisk to help it melt smoothly and evenly. Scrape the bottom of the pan to make sure the chocolate doesn’t stick and burn.

Mix in the Baileys:
Remove the saucepan from the heat once the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Stir in the Baileys Irish Cream. Taste, and add sugar if desired (depending on the sweetness of your chocolate and personal preference).

Serve:
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and serve immediately while hot. You can optionally top with whipped cream or use a milk frother to froth the top for added texture.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this indulgent hot chocolate as a decadent treat after dinner or as a cozy holiday drink.

Use it as a creamer for coffee or drizzle over vanilla ice cream for an extra luxurious treat.

If you love experimenting with flavors, try substituting Baileys Salted Caramel, Espresso Creme, or Vanilla Cinnamon for a unique twist.

Tips for the Best Hot Chocolate

Belgian Chocolate: Choose high-quality Belgian dark chocolate (around 70%) for a rich, intense flavor that pairs perfectly with the cream and Baileys.

Sweetness: Adjust the sugar according to your taste preference, as the Baileys adds some sweetness.

Toppings: You can skip the whipped cream if you prefer a smooth, creamy finish, or add it for that extra indulgence.
