Description

A quick and flavorful stir fry featuring tender strips of beef and colorful vegetables tossed in a savory garlic-ginger sauce. Perfect for a busy weeknight dinner that combines protein and fresh veggies in a delicious Asian-inspired dish.

Ingredients

Beef Marinade

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

Stir Fry Sauce

  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp beef broth
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking, divided)

Instructions

  1. Marinate Beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15 minutes to tenderize and flavor the meat.
  2. Prepare Sauce: Whisk together ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce, 2 tablespoons beef broth, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil in a small bowl. Set aside the flavorful stir fry sauce.
  3. Cook Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Stir Fry Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced red bell pepper, broccoli florets, snap peas, and carrot. Stir fry the vegetables for about 4 to 5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  5. Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger to the vegetables in the skillet. Cook for an additional 30 seconds to release their aroma and flavor.
  6. Combine Beef and Sauce: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour in the prepared stir fry sauce and toss everything together to coat evenly.
  7. Finish Cooking: Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and the beef is cooked through.
  8. Serve: Serve the beef stir fry hot, ideally over steamed rice or noodles to complete your meal.

Notes

  • Slice beef against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Add mushrooms, zucchini, or baby corn to the stir fry for variety and extra nutrition.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels without sacrificing flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes or a splash of chili sauce when cooking garlic and ginger.
