Ingredients
Chicken and Wraps
- 600 g boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Tzatziki
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber, grated and squeezed dry
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh dill
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the seasoning: In a bowl, combine olive oil, dried oregano, paprika, garlic powder, ground cumin, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Coat the chicken: Thoroughly coat the boneless chicken thighs or breasts with the seasoning mixture, ensuring every piece is well covered for maximum flavor.
- Cook the chicken: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Place the seasoned chicken on the hot pan and cook for 5–7 minutes on each side, depending on thickness, until the chicken is fully cooked and has a nice char.
- Rest and slice the chicken: Remove the chicken from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes to retain juiciness. Then slice the chicken into thin strips suitable for wrapping.
- Make the tzatziki sauce: In a bowl, mix Greek yogurt, grated and well-drained cucumber, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, and salt. Stir until combined into a creamy, refreshing sauce.
- Warm the pita breads: Gently warm the pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave to make them soft and pliable for wrapping.
- Assemble the wraps: Fill each warmed pita with slices of cooked chicken, sliced cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, and fresh parsley. Add a generous spoonful of the homemade tzatziki sauce on top.
- Serve: Fold the filled pita wraps and serve immediately for a satisfying Mediterranean meal.
Notes
- Chicken thighs stay especially juicy and tender; chicken breasts offer a leaner alternative.
- For extra flavor and texture, add lettuce, olives, or crumbled feta cheese.
- Tzatziki sauce can be prepared up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
