Description
These crispy Asian potatoes are golden and crunchy with a bold, savory glaze made from soy sauce, garlic, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect as a flavorful side dish or a satisfying snack, they combine tender boiled potatoes with a crispy pan-fried exterior, enhanced by aromatic sesame oil and fresh green onions.
Ingredients
Potatoes
- 4 medium potatoes, cubed
For Cooking
- 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or canola)
For Sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Garnish
- 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Boil Potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a pot of boiling water and cook for 5–7 minutes until they are slightly tender but still hold their shape. Drain thoroughly to remove all excess water.
- Pan-fry Potatoes: Heat the 2 tablespoons of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the boiled potato cubes and cook, turning occasionally, until they become golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 10–15 minutes.
- Prepare Sauce: While the potatoes are frying, combine the soy sauce, honey (or sugar), minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Stir well to blend the flavors.
- Toss Potatoes in Sauce: Remove the crispy potatoes from the pan and transfer them to a bowl. Pour the prepared sauce over the potatoes and toss gently to ensure every piece is evenly coated with the savory glaze.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the chopped green onions over the coated potatoes and serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- Dry potatoes thoroughly before frying to maximize crispiness.
- Add chili flakes to the sauce or sprinkle over the finished dish if you prefer a spicy kick.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the potatoes at their crispiest.
