Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Beans and Liquids
- 1 can kidney beans, drained
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups chicken broth
Spices and Oil
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the turkey: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook, stirring occasionally, until fully browned and no longer pink.
- Sauté aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the browned turkey. Cook, stirring frequently, until the onion is softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add spices: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Cook the mixture for about 1 minute to toast the spices and bring out their flavor.
- Combine main ingredients: Add the drained kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (with juices), and chicken broth to the pot. Stir well to combine.
- Simmer the chili: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low to maintain a simmer. Cook uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and to let flavors meld.
- Season and serve: Taste the chili and season with salt and pepper according to your preference. Serve hot, optionally topped with cheese, sour cream, or avocado.
Notes
- Top with cheese, sour cream, or avocado for added creaminess and flavor.
- Adjust the spice level by adding cayenne pepper if you prefer more heat.
- This chili tastes even better the next day after the flavors have melded together overnight.
