Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Pasta and Liquids
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
Cheese and Seasonings
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat Olive Oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil until shimmering but not smoking to create the base for sautéing.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Brown Ground Beef: Add the lean ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish leaner.
- Add Liquids and Seasonings: Stir in the beef broth, milk, tomato sauce, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
- Add Macaroni and Simmer: Pour in the uncooked elbow macaroni and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Once simmering, cover the skillet.
- Cook Pasta: Let the macaroni cook covered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is tender and has absorbed much of the liquid.
- Mix in Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and creamy, coating the pasta and beef mixture evenly.
- Serve Hot: Dish out the cheesy hamburger macaroni immediately while warm and enjoy as a comforting family meal.
Notes
