Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 pears, peeled and chopped
- 2 potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Sauté Onion: Heat butter or oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until it becomes soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add Pears and Potatoes: Add the peeled and chopped pears and potatoes to the pot and stir well to combine with the softened onion.
- Add Broth and Simmer: Pour in the vegetable broth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the pears and potatoes are tender enough to pierce easily with a fork.
- Blend the Soup: Using an immersion blender directly in the pot or by transferring the soup in batches to a regular blender, blend the soup until completely smooth and creamy.
- Season and Serve: Return the blended soup to the pot if needed, season with salt and black pepper to taste, and warm through if necessary. Serve the soup warm, garnished as desired.
Notes
- Use ripe pears for the best natural sweetness and flavor in your soup.
- For an extra creamy and rich texture, stir in a splash of cream or coconut milk just before serving.
- Consider garnishing the soup with fresh herbs like parsley or thyme, or crunchy nuts such as toasted walnuts for added texture and flavor.
