Description
Perfectly cooked chicken breasts using the sous vide technique, finished with a bright and flavorful citrus glaze that adds a sweet and savory touch.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 4 chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Citrus Glaze
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch slurry (1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tsp water)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then place them in a vacuum-seal bag along with olive oil. Seal the bag tightly to ensure no air remains.
- Sous Vide Cooking: Preheat your sous vide water bath to 145°F (63°C). Submerge the sealed chicken breasts in the water bath and cook for 1.5 hours until perfectly tender and juicy.
- Sear the Chicken: Remove the chicken breasts from the bag and pat dry. Quickly sear them in a hot skillet for about 1 minute per side to develop a golden-brown crust and enhance flavor.
- Make the Citrus Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, honey, and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the glaze thickens to a smooth, syrupy consistency.
- Serve: Pour the warm citrus glaze over the seared chicken breasts and serve immediately for a bright, delicious finish.
Notes
- Use a digital thermometer to ensure accurate sous vide temperature.
- Patting the chicken dry before searing helps achieve a better crust.
- The glaze can be adjusted for sweetness or saltiness by varying honey and soy sauce amounts.
- Serve with steamed vegetables or a light salad for a balanced meal.
