Description

Cheese-filled tortellini baked in a rich, creamy Gorgonzola sauce and topped with melted mozzarella. This indulgent casserole is packed with flavor and perfect for special dinners or cozy nights at home.

Ingredients

Cheese Tortellini

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure a hot environment for baking the casserole.
  2. Cook Tortellini: Prepare the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain thoroughly to remove excess water.
  3. Make Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant without browning.
  4. Add Cream and Cheese: Stir in the heavy cream and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese. Cook gently, stirring until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Combine Tortellini and Sauce: Mix the cooked tortellini with the Gorgonzola cream sauce until well coated.
  6. Assemble Casserole: Transfer the tortellini mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Add Toppings: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
  8. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown on top.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately while the casserole is hot and creamy.

Notes

  • Add cooked chicken or spinach for extra substance and variety.
  • Blue cheese can be used as a substitute for Gorgonzola if preferred.
  • This casserole is best served immediately to enjoy its creamy texture and rich flavors.
