Description
A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired dish featuring savory ground beef coated in a spicy and slightly sweet gochujang sauce, served in crisp lettuce wraps for a light and satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 head lettuce, leaves separated
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Sauce and Seasoning
- 2 tbsp gochujang
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, combine gochujang, soy sauce, honey (or sugar), sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well until the sauce is homogeneous.
- Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently until it is fully browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain Excess Fat: If there is excess fat in the pan, carefully drain it to avoid grease in the dish.
- Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the ground beef and stir well to coat all the meat evenly. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is well incorporated and slightly caramelized.
- Assemble the Wraps: Spoon generous portions of the spicy gochujang ground beef into individual lettuce leaves, creating wraps.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the wraps for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- For additional crunch and freshness, add shredded carrots or thinly sliced cucumbers to the wraps.
- Adjust the amount of gochujang to increase or decrease the spice level according to your preference.
- Use butter lettuce or Boston lettuce for an ideal wrap texture.
- Serve with steamed rice or kimchi for a more complete Korean meal.
