Description

This Maple Glaze for Donuts is a smooth and sweet topping infused with rich maple flavor. Ideal for both baked and fried donuts, it provides a delicious bakery-style finish made with simple, wholesome ingredients that can also enhance muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, and coffee cakes.

Ingredients

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, pure maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well blended.
  2. Add Milk to Adjust Consistency: Pour in 1 tablespoon of milk and whisk thoroughly until the glaze is smooth. Gradually add the remaining milk, a little at a time, until the desired glaze consistency is achieved.
  3. Apply the Glaze: Dip cooled donuts directly into the glaze or drizzle it over the tops using a spoon or spatula for an even coating.
  4. Set the Glaze: Allow the glazed donuts to rest at room temperature for 10–15 minutes so the glaze can firm up and set before serving.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup to maximize the rich maple flavor.
  • For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of milk used.
  • This glaze is versatile and also delicious on muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, and coffee cakes.
