Description

These Mediterranean Chicken Patties are tender, juicy, and bursting with fresh herbs, garlic, lemon, and tangy feta cheese. Easy to prepare and cook on the stovetop in a skillet, they offer a high-protein meal perfect for serving with tzatziki, Greek salad, pita bread, or roasted vegetables. With aromatic herbs and a flavorful blend of spices, these patties bring a taste of the Mediterranean to your table.

Ingredients

Chicken Patties

  • 1 ½ lbs ground chicken
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, add the ground chicken, finely chopped red onion, minced garlic, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, chopped dill, egg, breadcrumbs, fresh lemon juice, dried oregano, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly combined, taking care not to overmix.
  2. Shape Patties: Divide the chicken mixture into 6 equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick, ensuring they hold together firmly.
  3. Heat Oil: Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Cook Patties: Place patties in the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until they develop a golden-brown crust and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to ensure they are fully cooked.
  5. Rest Patties: Transfer the cooked patties to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes to allow juices to redistribute and enhance tenderness.
  6. Serve: Serve warm with your choice of tzatziki sauce, a fresh Greek salad, warm pita bread, or roasted vegetables for a complete Mediterranean-inspired meal.

Notes

  • Chill the patties in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold their shape better during cooking.
  • Avoid overmixing the chicken mixture to keep the patties tender and juicy.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for ground chicken if preferred.
  • For a lighter cooking method, bake patties at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes instead of pan-frying.
  • Store any leftover patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
