Description

These Mexican Street Tacos feature tender seasoned beef, warm corn tortillas, fresh cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime. They’re simple, authentic-inspired, and packed with bold flavor, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Beef and Marinade

  • 1½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Toppings and Tortillas

  • 12 small corn tortillas
  • ½ cup white onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 limes, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Season the Beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until the meat is evenly coated with the spices.
  2. Heat the Pan: Place a skillet or grill pan on the stovetop and heat it over high heat to ensure a good sear for the beef.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add the seasoned beef to the hot pan and cook for 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally to brown all sides and ensure it is cooked through while retaining tenderness.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: Warm the corn tortillas by placing them in a dry skillet or briefly holding them over a gas flame for a few seconds on each side until pliable and hot.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Fill each warmed tortilla with a portion of the cooked beef, then top generously with finely diced white onions and chopped fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve: Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing fresh lime juice over the top to add bright acidity and enhance the flavors.

Notes

  • Add salsa, avocado, or cotija cheese as optional toppings for additional flavor and texture.
  • Marinate the beef for 30 minutes before cooking to deepen the flavor and tenderize the meat.
  • These tacos are best served immediately while warm to enjoy their fresh and vibrant taste.
