Description

Soft and chewy Neapolitan cookies inspired by the classic trio of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors. These colorful cookies blend cocoa, vanilla, and strawberry into a delightful marbled treat, perfect for dessert or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Flavor Additions

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry powder or jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it’s ready when your cookies are prepared.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture becomes light, fluffy, and creamy, which will help create the cookie’s tender texture.
  3. Add Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla extract thoroughly until fully incorporated, adding moisture and flavor to the dough.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined to form the cookie dough.
  5. Divide Dough: Separate the dough evenly into three portions to prepare for flavoring.
  6. Mix Flavors: Stir cocoa powder into one portion to make the chocolate dough, and blend strawberry powder or jam into the second portion for the strawberry dough, leaving the third plain for vanilla flavor.
  7. Create Marbled Effect: Lightly combine the three colored doughs together, being careful not to overmix, to achieve a beautiful marbled look for the cookies.
  8. Shape Cookies: Form the combined dough into cookie shapes, spacing them evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just set but the centers remain soft.
  10. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely, ensuring they firm up while remaining chewy.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the colors if you want a distinct marbled effect in your cookies.
  • If the dough feels too soft to handle, chill it in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes before shaping.
