Description

A hearty and comforting dish featuring tender steak, savory mushrooms, and seasoned rice baked together for a rich and satisfying meal. This baked steak and mushroom rice casserole combines juicy pan-seared steak pieces with fragrant mushrooms and aromatic rice, all cooked in beef broth for a flavorful one-dish dinner.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked rice (preferably jasmine or basmati)
  • 200 g steak, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) to prepare for baking the dish.
  2. Cook the Steak: Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the steak pieces and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: In the same pan, add chopped onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and fragrant.
  4. Add Rice: Stir in the uncooked rice with the sautéed vegetables and cook for 1–2 minutes to lightly toast the rice and combine flavors.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Transfer the rice, vegetable mixture, and cooked steak into a baking dish. Pour the beef broth evenly over the mixture. Season with paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Bake: Cover the baking dish tightly with foil to retain moisture. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, until the rice is tender and has absorbed the broth.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the dish rest for 5 minutes to absorb any remaining liquid. Serve warm and enjoy your comforting steak and mushroom rice bake.

Notes

  • Use jasmine or basmati rice for best texture and aroma.
  • For extra richness, sprinkle cheese on top before baking.
  • Allowing the dish to rest after baking helps absorb remaining liquid and improves flavor.
