Description

Juicy shrimp coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy gochujang sauce, ready in minutes and perfect for a quick meal or appetizer. This Korean fusion dish combines the heat of gochujang with a hint of sweetness and tang, making it an irresistible main course or snack.

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 400 g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Heat the Oil: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  2. Season the Shrimp: Season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt and pepper evenly on both sides.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the pan and cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning once, until they turn pink and are cooked through but still tender.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: While the shrimp is cooking, combine 2 tbsp gochujang, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp sesame oil, and 1 tsp rice vinegar in a small bowl; mix well to create a smooth sauce.
  5. Toss Shrimp in Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the cooked shrimp and toss to coat every piece evenly with the sticky sauce.
  6. Thicken the Sauce: Cook for an additional 1 minute while stirring constantly, allowing the sauce to thicken and glaze the shrimp perfectly.
  7. Serve Immediately: Remove the pan from heat and serve the sweet and spicy gochujang shrimp hot for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or sliced green onions for added crunch and flavor.
  • Serve with steamed rice or as an appetizer with dipping sauce.
